Ivan Afonskiy (born in 1993 in Moscow, Russia) graduated from the studio of easel graphics at the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after Surikov and is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists. He collaborates with various galleries, showcasing his works on the international stage. Ivan draws inspiration from nature, focusing on details and images, creating pieces based on his surroundings. In addition, he works on creating monumental mosaics for large-scale projects. Currently, Ivan lives in Paris, and his works are held in private collections around the world. "In my work, I always start from nature, but I don't limit myself to just what I see. I carefully explore details that may seem insignificant and look for meaning in them. My works are an expression of what I am experiencing and feeling in the present moment. I paint what is close to me, what is happening in my life. This is the most important thing to me right now. I mostly capture myself and my loved ones. A portrait is not just an image of people; it is a story of life, through which I observe how contexts and the world around me change. I work with acrylic on canvas and mosaics, but recently I have become fascinated by watercolour. I enjoy that with watercolour, I have started to move away from nature and focus more on imagined images."
