Luigi Iona (b. 1990) is an Italian painter and draftsman whose practice is rooted in a lifelong fascination with drawing and color. Based in Italy, Iona began experimenting with visual expression as a child, often coloring the underside of the kitchen table—an early gesture that now echoes in the tactile intimacy of his current work.

Since his early twenties, Iona has developed a consistent painting and drawing practice, and for the past four years, he has worked daily, primarily using acrylics on paper and pressed cardboard. His process is instinctive and frenetic, marked by a deliberate search for the “right sign”—a gesture that gives structure to the emotional charge of each piece.

Driven by a desire to capture human beauty, Iona's work emerges from the ordinary moments of everyday life. Through an expressive and often messy visual language, he seeks to convey a sense of humanity that is both personal and universal, inviting viewers into an emotional and poetic reading of the world.
