Eirini Apsychou was born in Xanthi, Greece in 1994. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts -School of Visual and Applied Arts- of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2018. She currently lives and works in Porto, Portugal, since 2020. In her artistic practice, the soul that travels through the Universe acquires a symbolic body and is reflected in a series of artworks. Her work has been inspired by the concept of spiritual portraits, depicted as stellar objects. "Celestial Bodies" is a collection of drawings, which she created over a period of 3 years (2020-2022) using coloured pencils on paper. The artist produces images that unify the earth with the sky, outlining the relation between the individual and the cosmic reality.
Through these artworks, she observes the dual nature of humans, their material and spiritual existence, depicting light as consciousness. She forms her images by following a process of creating layers of colors, which form a solid, rich base that highlights the qualities of depth and light. During the recent years, she has been engaged in the realm of exhibitions through collaborative initiatives with the "Art of Life" collective. Together, they curate multidisciplinary events in significant places in Greece, with aspirations to expand their reach internationally in the near future.
