Kirsty Fabiyi (b.1999 UK) She received her BFA at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford in 2021 and MA in Sculpture at The Royal College of Art in 2024. Fabiyi’s work looks at the interior landscape within the body with a tender gaze. This gaze as a push towards a slower looking that highlights the ephemeral & invisible. These two parts of the practice come to be with the influence of hidden images found in daily life and hidden structures within the body. The focus on hidden structures in the work began with fascia. This translucent connective structure plays a role in how the body senses the environment around it through proprioception, touch, pain and repair. In her practice she channels these investigations of the body, black interiority and the complexity of inner sensory worlds through veiling, colour and form. Working between paint, digital image generation and collage, the artist views each medium as a tool to examine fixity and instead prioritise fluidity and possibility.
